We were hosted at Splashway Waterpark and Campgrounds for this post, however, all opinions are my own.
Our Summers are definitely full of adventures and not complete without a trip to a waterpark!! With our flexible work schedules in the Summer, it allows us to go on a lot of family getaways and have a ton of fun adventures. This Summer, we instantly knew we wanted to go back to Splashway Waterpark and Campground. We went three summers in a row when our kids were younger then weren’t able to go last year, so we were missing it big time! At only an hour and a half away from Houston, Splashway makes for an easy trip and the perfect Summer Houston Family Getaway!
I’ve been so surprised to learn that most of our Houston friends haven’t heard of Splashway! Splashway Waterpark is truly a hidden gem in Houston!
But, Splashway is so much more than just a waterpark. The campground is open ALL year round and is packed with family fun. I’ve been trying to think of how to accurately describe the feeling you get at Splashway and I keep coming back to a safe, family environment where you can relax, enjoy the outdoors, enjoy your family and just get away to have fun TOGETHER (without Wifi!)
Why Choose Splashway Waterpark?
It is safe.
You feel incredibly safe at Splashway Waterpark. When you are there, you don’t worry about your stuff sitting out or someone taking your shaded spot. It is so welcoming and staff is all over the park to help in any way necessary. This visit, our son got hurt going down a slide and got a big goose egg on his head. Their medical team quickly assessed him, made sure there was no problem with the slide and offered their full assistance if he felt bad later on.
It is family friendly.
Throughout Splashway they play family oriented music, have a dress code that doesn’t allow for revealing swimwear and don’t allow crude behavior. I can’t express enough how different this atmosphere is from other waterparks we’ve visited. It just feels so homey!
It is family values.
I think I big reason it feels so “homey” is because of their values. They play christian music on Sundays, sing the national anthem at noon and just have a very clean atmosphere which allows for so much family fun.
It is so much fun!
That brings me to how fun Splashway Waterpark is – with a toddler area, kid area, and tons of slides, they really have something for everyone! They have a lazy river, wave pool and family rides too! It is constant fun at Splashway. We stayed for three nights and had a blast every day all day!
The Food is delicious!
Everything I’ve eaten at Splashway is so good! They have so many options from BBQ to Burgers to Pizza to healthier choices like salads and grilled chicken. Oh, and yes they have dippin’ dots too! They also have a great funnel cake place and taco place. While the food is highly recommended, you can also bring your own cooler in the park as well. We brought in watermelon each day, sandwiches for lunch one day and plenty of water/drinks for our whole crew.
There is plenty of shade.
Another thing I love about Splashway is all of the built in shade, tented areas, etc. They have so many places to sit that are covered and protected from the sun. However, I highly recommend renting a Cabana for the day if you have a group. It’s super nice to have your own hangout/meeting space, plus it comes with comfy seating, a fan and a safe.

Splashway Campgrounds
Not only does the campground provide you with a place to stay close to the waterpark, but it is an experience all in itself. The campground offers so many different activities for families all year round. When you check in, they provide you with an ACTIVITY SCHEDULE, so you can plan out your fun. I highly recommend checking out their activity scheduled before your trip too so you can plan ahead!
During our stay, they had an outdoor family movie, s’mores pit, reptile show, bible study, live music and more! On top of their extra activities, they have multiple playgrounds, life-size game boards, basketball goals, a volleyball net, a catch and release fishing area, numerous walking and biking trails, putt putt golf, laser tag, pedal carts, water sports, gaga ball and an activity center (that has arts and crafts, games and more for gloomy weather)!They also have The Hideaway that serves to go style food that you can sit at tables and eat or take back to your cabin. All of our food at The Hideaway was AMAZING! Honestly, next time we go to Splashway, I will cook in our cabin less eat at the Hideaway more.
Another favorite of ours was our golf cart rental! We enjoyed going on a morning golf cart ride each morning and having the golf cart to go to and from the park. It just makes getting to the waterpark and across the campgrounds so easy and fun!

Splashway has grown quite a bit since our first year going and now they have 8 different lodging options and more coming soon! They have Ray’s Ranch House, King Cabins, Cabins, Bungalows, Cottages, Bunkhouses, RV Sites, and Tent Sites. Each offers different sleeping arrangements and amenities to fit every families needs – a family of 4 or a family reunion!
